Council Minutes Jan. 9

President’s Council Minutes for January 9, 2024

The meeting was called to order by Council President Cal Knol at 7:00PM.

Special guest, Betty Resch (Lake Worth Beach Mayor) spoke to the council and other community residents and answered a few questions from those in attendance. She noted that she is up for reelection on March 19th and would appreciate our support.  She provided her cell phone number: 561-329-2706, and said that text messages are the best way to contact her. She also gave out her email address: bettyresch@gmail.com

Roll call was taken by Council Secretary, Bev Knol, revealing that we had a quorum. There was no representative from building 8.

The council president noted that all members had previously been emailed a copy of the agenda and the minutes from the December 12 meeting.  Marty Hartman made a motion to approve the minutes for December and 2nd by Lynn Anderson.  The motion was passed.

Treasurer’s Reports: Leann Vander Woude distributed and reviewed the December 2023 financial report.  Our current balance is $13,227.59, and she noted that last year’s budget is now closed.  Cal reported that there is charge of $9.99 per month and is billed every 36 months, for a total of $354.54.  There was a request that we provide a breakdown of the bill from Blue Host, who provides our web page. Neither Cal & Leann had a copy of the invoice with them, so they will provide at next meeting in February.  A motion was made by Jim Carreau to approve the report and 2nd by Dan Kraly.  The motion was passed.

Clubhouse and Pool:  Robert reported that a new closure was recently installed on the front and is working well.  Cal reported that the heater for our new HVAC system was installed last week, but that the workers had removed our default thermostat. All Pro Air Conditioning was notified to this issue and they agreed to replace that thermostat with a new one at their expense.  Cal also reported that a damaged table top, on the pool deck, was replaced and the expense of $290.00 was covered by the Craft Club ladies. The water fountain, at the pool, has again broken down is currently not functioning. We will try and get replacement parts and repair in the next few weeks

Shuffleboard: No report

Lawn/Landscaping:  Pam Tulchinski reported that there would be a landscaping committee meeting on Wednesday at 9:00AM and anyone is invited to attend. She plans to install some new plants and ad some additional top soil. It was also recommended that we place new mulch. Our current lawn care service has given us an estimate of $500.00 to install and spread the mulch in all the front areas of our recreational area.

Bingo:  Helen Marino reported that Bingo would resume on Wednesday January 10, 2024 at 7:00PM

Craft Club:  Helen Marino reported that they continue working on cards and meet on Monday morning from 10:00AM. to noon.  Their cards are available for purchase at those meetings and during many of our events for $3.00 a card.

Club 2180:  Susan Bechtel reported that our Meet and Greets will take place on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month through March, and our first one is scheduled to take place on Friday, January 12 at 5:00PM poolside.  Guests are requested to bring a snack to share and provide their own beverage.  Remember there is absolutely no glass permitted on our pool deck!  Our International Potluck will take place on Saturday, January 20 with doors opening at 5:30PM and dinner service shortly thereafter. Attendees are asked to bring a favorite hot dish, salad or dessert, and may also bring their own beverage. We will provide ice water and coffee.  There will also be a 50/50 Raffle.

Webmaster:   Alex Varsakopoulos shared that although our web page is private and for residents use only, it is technically not secure. He asked Eddie to have his building blocked out.  Ed Campagnuola reminded presidents to please give building updates to himself or Cal to keep our directory as up-to-date as possible. Presidents were also asked to poll their building residents as to having a hard copy of the directory, and report back at our next meeting.

Old Business:  None

New Business:

Several of the residents complained about the coldness of the water in the pool. They were reminded that the solar panels need sunshine to effectively heat the pool, and our weather has been mostly rainy and cooler with very little sunshine for past six to eight weeks!

Our next President’s Council Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 7:00PM

A motion to adjourn was given by Jim Carreau and 2nd by Ed Campagnuola.  Motion was approved.

Respectfully submitted:

Bev Knol, Secretary
