Council Minutes March 25

Presidents’ Council Minutes for March 11, 2025

The meeting was called to order by Cal Knol at 7:00PM

Roll Call was taken by Bev Knol revealing enough for a quorum.  There were no representatives from buildings 8 or 12.

Council president Cal Knol noted that the minutes from February 11, 2025 had been emailed to building representatives on January 28, and to waive the reading of those minutes. A motion was made by Jim Carreau and 2nd by Pat LaBarre to approve the minutes, as written.  Motion was approved.

.

Treasurer’s Report: Leanne VanderWoude distributed the financial report for February 2025 and Cal Knol asked everyone to review the report and ask any questions they may have.  Following only one question, Marty Hartman made a motion to approved the treasurer’s report which was 2nd by Robert Pickard.  The motion was approved.

Clubhouse & Recreation: Cal Knol reported that the gas grill has been removed from the store room and anchored outside on the patio deck, along the fence line. The picnic tables were also repositioned which allowed more room for the area directly in front of the grill.

Shed update & Gazebo option:  Cal Knol reported that the expense for constructing a new shed was cost prohibitive, considering what it was going to be used for. He suggested that we instead install a gazebo over the picnic area, which would protect the tables from bird droppings and make the area more appealing for our community to use for outside family picnics. Club 2180 has also discussed the possibility of covering the cost for this project. Further information needs to be gathered such as a permit, selecting an appropriate gazebo and an installer. This will continue to move forward as possible.

Pool: Things are currently going well with the pool, but when cooler temperatures set in, it has been more difficult for the solar heating to keep it warm enough for most bathers.

Shuffleboard: Robert Pickard reported that due to fading of the shuffleboard court lines we asked Jimmy Nielson to repaint the lines on the one court most frequently used. This work has been completed.

Lawn/Landscaping: Pam Tulchinski reported that they continue to clear out more over growth along the fence line. They also plan to install new plants to enhance the overall appearance of our property behind the clubhouse and along the grassy area and back patio.  It was also reported that Jimmy Nielson put up some mesh along the fence to provide a little more privacy, after the removal of the excessive brush. The council and community are grateful to Pam and others who are helping with this seriously needed improvement.

Craft Club: Helen Marino reported that the club continues to meet on Monday mornings to make cards, and they remain available for sale at $3.00 per card.

Bingo: Helen reported that we’ve been having around 23-25 people attending our Wednesday evening games.

Club 2180: Cal Knol reported that our next event is the barbecue scheduled for Saturday, March 22.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. and dinner served at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are still available for $10.00 each until Tuesday, March 18.  Our next and final event is the Meet & Greet set for Friday, March 28th at 5:00 p.m.

Please note that all scheduled community events are noted on the clubhouse calendar, building bulletin boards and the clubhouse door. These events can always be viewed on our community’s web site.

 .

Webmaster: Please continue to submit updates on new resident address information to Cal Knol or Ed Campagnoulo as soon as possible after they occur.

Old Business: None

New Business: Lynn Anderson asked about a new directory in the booklet style.  She states that it is so convenient to use in that form. Several others agreed with her.  Helen Marino suggested that the Craft Club could underwrite the cost of a new directory for 2025 – 2026. An updated directory will likely be done next season.

Marlene Ingratta asked about the cold-water temperature in the pool.  It is not being used much when the water is too cool. She asked if there was any way to bring up that temperature?  Both Robert & Cal stated that several options have been looked into, but the added cost of these additions are either not legal for a commercial pool (solar blanket) or too costly to run a gas line or upgrade our power grid to accommodate electric heating.

Community Comments:  Lynn Anderson asked if we could tighten up security in our community due to all the car break ins and the theft of mail from our boxes.  It was suggested that we inquire about additional patrols in our complex by the police.  This will be looked into.

Our next President’s Council Meeting is scheduled for April 8, 2025 at 7:00 p.m.

A motion to adjourn was made by Jim Carreau and 2nd by Pat LaBarre.  Motion was approved.

Respectfully submitted:

Beverly J. Knol, Secretary
