Council Minutes 12/25

  • Presidents’ Council Minutes for December 9, 2025The meeting was called to order by Cal Knol at 7:00PM Roll Call was taken by Bev Knol revealing enough for a quorum. There were no representatives from buildings 2, 3, 8 or 12.We had two representatives from Citizens Patrol and two officers from Palm Beach County to talk about our community’s law enforcement and they fielded questions from the council and gallery. The following remarks summarize that discussion. There priority is to control violence and work on homelessness. Most of the calls in our community were for assistance and not necessarily a crime. Vehicle and residential burglariesare down in our area. The Citizens Patrol noted that the lighting on our complex is good. To help curb crime in our area, the police strongly recommended the installation of cameras on our buildings, as this is also a great tool for them in catching people who are trying to commit a burglary. They stressed that if we see something we should say something. If you are ever dissatisfied with an officer or deputy, you should ask fora supervisor. There are rules regarding excessive noise after hours and you may call the non-emergency number to report. They also have monthly meetings on the fourth Wednesday of every month (except December) at 120 North G Street, Lake Worth Beach at 9AM. Coffee and donuts are provided, and they encourage our participation. You may email Captain Terrence Carn at: carnt@pbso.org if you would like to attend.Council president Cal Knol noted that the minutes from November 11, 2025 had been emailed to building representatives on December 1st, and if there were no questions he requested to waive the reading of those minutes. A motion was made by Pat LaBarre to approve the minutes, 2nd by Ed Campagnuola. The motion was approved.Treasurer’s Report: In Leann’s absence Cal noted that the November financial report had been emailed to building representatives on December 3rd. After identifying and discussing a few entries he requested a motion to approve the report as written. A motion was made by Jim Carreau to approve the financial report and 2nd by Kay Branagan. The motion was approved. Pool: Robert Pickard reported that we have a persistent water leak in one of our solar panels and have a representative from Florida Solar Pro coming on Wednesday to look at it and advise us on needed repairs. There have been suggestions that we make some updates in our kitchen. This would include the replacement of the countertop, a new doublewide deep sink & faucet, and an under the cabinet microwave. We are also hoping to purchase an air fryer that will sit on the counter next to the refrigerator. Although not yet approved, there has been some discussion that Club 2180 would cover this expense since the gazebo plan fell through. It was also brought up that the lady’s restroom, in the clubhouse, needs updating to provide more accessibility for people using walkers. Privacy matters were also discussed and Cal noted that door locks were installed in 2023. The removal of one toilet was discussed as an option to create more space, and although it is an option, it might cause a code violation. Robert and I will look at some options and report at our next meeting in January.Robert Pickard reported that we have terminated the Blue Pools company, due to performance issues and poor advice as to our needs. After looking at different costs and options, it was decided that we hire Bare Foot Pools. They identified some very needed cleaning of the tub in the pump room, which has been performed, and they are now coming twice a week to clean and maintain the pool and pump house.Shuffleboard: Robert Pickard reported that shuffleboard has started up this week and all are welcome.
